[You know what happens when you give two curious teenagers time to formulate an idea? Trouble.

Lots of it. The video shows Ilex Forest and the back of one Dave Strider as he whistles sharply to the Cranidos beside him. He's not alone there's a Jane Crocker to his left with another Cranidos. There's a thud as their pokemon hit the trees with their heads. At first nothing happens then an angry looking pineco drops out onto the grass.

Dave blinks.] What the tap dancing christ?

Oh! It's a Pokemon we haven't seen before! Let's see.. [She's fishing out her gear while approaching the Pineco, as it's actually really difficult to tell if it's expression is angry or not; it always looks a bit mad, especially compared to the dex image. The sudden glowing is a concern though, that has Jane taking a step back.] What in the --

[Boom. It knocks both of them back, sending Dave butt over heels to slam his back into the grass. The explosion shakes the trees and a ring of Pineco hit the ground. All at once they start to glow and he surges up covering the pokemon and Jane with a curse before the screen goes white.]

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[Unlike Jane, it takes Dave a little longer to respond. Not out of disobedience just fielding everyone's answers as he makes sure there's no more threats in the area. His video comes on two minutes after Jane. He looks battered and while he moves stiffly, his expression is the same as it always is.

Unless you're Bro. Then you'll get that he's gone from relaxed to paranoid which used to be the norm for him in Sburb. He had no illusions about this place being super safe. He just hadn't thought shit in the trees could kill him.] Before you start peppering me with the run down of have you double checked for head hits etc, I did the run down.

I'm fine. [Just sore as hell and he winces visibly when Snoop the dragonite brushes against him.]

I think it was just bad luck they all dropped down like that.

[After having heard from Jane, Bro isn't as worried as he was before. He knows Dave is okay, and he knows he'll hear from him soon enough, even if it's not as fast as he would like for it to be. When he responds, he doesn't use video. Like with Jane, he doesn't want Dave to see how on edge he still is from the whole thing.]

I wasn't going to pepper you. I know you're smart enough to know to do that already- or at least I'd hope so.

[He really wishes that he was there so that he could assess the damage himself, though.]

You need to get a real checkup as soon as possible, though. You took the brunt of the damage on that one. Speaking of... That was really fucking reckless, y'know. Reckless, stupid and way too damn heroic for your own good.

[A beat.]

And I'm proud of you for it. Even if it was really fuckin' stupid.

Hey Striders survive to fight another day and be tough enough to keep coming when no one else can get their ass back up. [He coughs at the word proud and straightens up a bit.]

Yeah it was but, I can take the hits better.

[He's finally composed enough that he feels comfortable going on video now, so he flicks it on. And maybe he also wanted to be able to give Dave a thumbs up, because he's earned it. There also might be a smile trying to work it's way onto his mouth that he's attempting to hold back.]

You got that right, on both accounts. I'd consider it a failure on my part if you couldn't take an explosion or two. Sturdiness of a true Strider right there.

[He relaxes a bit more at the thumbs up and returns it. Dave nods and collects his pokemon with a whistle to let them know they're clearing out.]

Not to mention a bang from a bunch of living pinecones. Which makes about as much sense as what Biggie Smalls turned into. I still don't get that one.

Some things in life you just don't question. I think these two those things.

[He shrugs after a few seconds, feeling better now that he knows Dave isn't too injured. He's still a little on edge, but he's quickly calming down.]

So what were you doin', headbutting trees anyway?

So instead of just headbutting one or two at a time, you decided to headbutt every goddamn tree in the forest back to back?

No! We only hit the two. The first Pineco exploding alerted a bunch more.

Oh, guess I figured you'd been doing it a while then. Well whatever, the point is be careful. And avoid deadly pinecones.

I'll be careful. [He parrots, then snorts.] They might have stripped our speed from us, but, it takes a fuck load to kill a Strider.
