You say that as if we won't have another one like this at a later time.
[[But fine fine. She gathers up the notebooks that he'll care about and slips them into her bag before heading over to his room. She makes the trip as short as she can, deciding to let Guile sleep rather than bring her along this time. So soon there's a knock on his door.]]
We're never going to have another talk like that ever again, holy shit. [Dave knows it's dumb to say that first thing. But he has to say it. He holds the door open for her and his dragons are laying around. She'd caught him in the middle of grooming their scales. Shed scales are stacked in a pile and shed claws in their own little place.
He returns to his place by Dirk and leaves the door open.] So what's this story you're having me read. Lay it on me.
Don't be so sure. [[Rose glances around at all the dragons, smiling at the scales and claws. Who knew they were so high maintenance without fur? After he sits down, she follows and sits next to him, opening her bag to pull out one of four notebooks.]]
It's just a little something I started writing about a year ago. It's a typical 'story about a group of friends and their lives together' type deal...nothing really new or groundbreaking in the world of literature honestly.
[[She holds the book out to him, though it's almost a little hesitantly that she does so.]]
I've finally gotten it to a point where I'm proud of the writing and feel like it might be worth a read. Forgive any errors you may come across. I've only edited it twice now.
[Four friends and their lives together, versus four friends and everything going wrong. He can see it. That sort of story is something he wouldn't mind reading at all. His hands close over the book and he takes it gently from her hands.]
Just because it isn't something new, doesn't mean you can't make it a whole other thing. Lesson one of Strider humor, always remove something from the original material by at least one layer. You got the genes, you can do it. I believe.
[At believe he drags it out. Clearly doing so on purpose.]
Anyway, I hear you loud and clear. Errors will be noted but not commented on.
[[There's a snort in reply, but she's got a smile that says she's glad he believes.]]
Well I guess we'll see if I've accomplished that or not then, won't we?
[[The story is obviously a fantasy as it begins informing the reader of the setting. How the story takes place on a world that is extremely diverse, made up of four different and distinct lands. The land of Earth - which is warm and full of bright green foliage, the center-most point being an active but not volatile volcano; The land of Fire - a sprawling landscape of bright reds and oranges, the ground black and decorated with magma pools; The land of Water - which was basically just an entire ocean dotted with sandy islands and ancient ruins; And the land of Wind - a bright landscape where the breeze always blows and the sun is always shining, as well as the home to the Kingdom that oversees this planet.
It's about four friends; the Heir to the throne, hailing from the land of Winds; his Knight from the land of Fire; a Witch who lives deep in the land of Earth; and a Seer from a murky cave in the land of Water.
Bet Dave can't guess what this is going to be about. Like he hasn't already.]]
