[Video] Backdated to Monday.

[The gear clicks on to show someone’s shoes at first. They’re black with steel over the front and one of them taps in a slow rhythm.]

-I’d have been cool with like white, or blue, or some funky color that had to do with the rainbow but attacking my head with neon? Really??

[The view swings up to the familiar rounded shades and flat expression of one Dave Strider. There’s just one noteable difference. His hair is neon pink. There is blaring and then there’s eye searing and from the way he huffs and offers the gear to someone else, he’s not impressed. ~~He will get you back for this.~~]

[The new face on the screen doesn’t seem any more excited about this, neon green hair falling into her eyes and framing her face. Rose wears an equally flat expression and her eyes glance sideways at her brother.]

Pink isn’t that bad. I mean, compare it to this green? I don’t even have anything that matches this. I’m going to be a walking color clash until I manage to purchase some new clothes. Pink goes well with red though, so I don’t see what you’re complaining about.

Except that I do. I can’t believe this.

[She knows exactly who is responsible. After all, who else could it possibly be? Who was close enough to the two of them to manage to prank them both on the same day? Who would even dare to prank the Strilondes like this other than John?

No one, that’s right.

Rose sets the gear back, so that both siblings can be admired in all of their neon glory.]

[Dave sighs and cards a hand through his hair but, that foot hasn’t stopped tapping. Oh he knows exactly who is responsible. There will be prank war over this. Suddenly, his whole demeanor shifts and he smirks. He covers the gear, but you hear one last thing from him.]

nah, it's still a prank because of their initial reactions and the fact that neither of them could see it coming/stop it.
if they get used to it, it will be only because they have no choice but to do so.
because that hair dye won't be washing out for a while.
hehehehe.

they just help convey emotions that sometimes can't be read through just the text by itself. or i guess when you want to hypothetically beat your conversational partner over the head with your point of whatever emotion you are feeling at the moment.
really drive your point home.
like you can say "i am happy right now!" and everyone ever will get the meaning unless they are completely braindead.
but you can add a :D at the end to be like "i am really happy right now and this little colon-capital-d i am following it with makes it all the more obvious and apparent in case you had any doubts!"
also for those instances where you don't have anything other to say than a smile or a sad face or whatever.

i figured pink would annoy dave the most while simultaneously possibly being somewhat humiliating.
and since rose put me in a squiddleterror lavender dress, i figured the best way to return the favor would be to dye her hair slime ghost green.
an eye for an eye, i guess?

[Dave really wasn't kidding when he said this prank battle between Rose and John was basically a mating dance. They're even marking their territory now.]

what did your horns look like?
i never actually got the chance to see any of you in person back home.

i can't say i have really looked into it all that deeply myself.
but i do know the symbols are the same, at least.
maybe there's more to it, who knows. astrology was never really my thing.
i would rather look at the stars than try to tell my future with them.

i don't know that anybody has tried but then again most people here are human to begin with.
but i do think it might be possible.
in fact, it has happened once before! but it was a temporary thing and there was a lot more to it than non-humans regaining their original forms.
it only lasted for a couple of days, but last november something really weird happened.
a bunch of people just showed up out of nowhere but were gone in a matter of days. what made it especially strange though, was the fact that they didn't show up in new bark.
some people got their powers back, and like i said, some non-humans changed back. karkat was one of them.
the whole thing was really...strange. nobody seems to have any idea how or why it happened but it hasn't happened since.

hey i didn't say anything about not believing in destiny!
though i don't think we are 100% bound by it, if that makes sense. it's not some force that's completely iron-clad and unchangeable, in my opinion.
i think we have just as much an impact on our destinies as destiny has on us.
but that's beside the point.
the point is: fortune telling based on the position of clusters of arbitrary connect-the-random-balls-of-space-gas when you were born is just kind of silly.
