[You know what happens when you give two curious teenagers time to formulate an idea? Trouble.

Lots of it. The video shows Ilex Forest and the back of one Dave Strider as he whistles sharply to the Cranidos beside him. He's not alone there's a Jane Crocker to his left with another Cranidos. There's a thud as their pokemon hit the trees with their heads. At first nothing happens then an angry looking pineco drops out onto the grass.

Dave blinks.] What the tap dancing christ?

Oh! It's a Pokemon we haven't seen before! Let's see.. [She's fishing out her gear while approaching the Pineco, as it's actually really difficult to tell if it's expression is angry or not; it always looks a bit mad, especially compared to the dex image. The sudden glowing is a concern though, that has Jane taking a step back.] What in the --

[Boom. It knocks both of them back, sending Dave butt over heels to slam his back into the grass. The explosion shakes the trees and a ring of Pineco hit the ground. All at once they start to glow and he surges up covering the pokemon and Jane with a curse before the screen goes white.]

Um, is everyone okay? Is there a way to call for help on this thing? [ oh wait, where are they even? too many confusing functions on the pokégear damnit. ]

[He holds up a hand looking dusty and battered.] I'm cool, turn down the def con numbers. Got a surprise we didn't bargain for.

[ he sighs in relief, especially because he's not sure what he could have done if they weren't okay. ]

That's good. Your companions are alright as well?

Yeah they're fine. [He glances to Jane as his Cranidos butts his head against his shoulder. Ow ow ow ow ow shit. All that he does is wince a little. He's going to be stinging for a while.] Who knew they were hanging out and waiting to burst in someone's face?

Do you think the PokéCenter might be able to help with that? [ your shoulder he means, but he hasn't really seen much in terms of human physicians around. ]

Were those pokémon as well? They looked like pine cones. [ except pine cones don't explode. ]

Probably. If not I'll deal with it. Just need to stretch a bit to work out some of the soreness. [The gear is shifted so the fainted Pineco are all visible.]

They're fine too. After they wake up they'll probably get right back up to wait for people.]

That doesn't really make sense. [ this is going to take some getting used to. ] So they attack and then faint.

[ which leaves them vulnerable to being...caught? how is this a good way to defend yourself? ] And then assuming no one comes by and sticks them in the ball thing, they just get right back up?

Nothing makes sense with pokemon. They're the breakers of logic and make scientists cry for their mothers. They just are, pretty much.

[He nods once and finally starts to get to his feet. Don't mind the flaming unicorn that immediately comes to his side.]

I guess it's just something to get used to. [ thankfully he's seen a few flaming animals around already so he's not too alarmed. ]

[ ...is that thing made of rubber? Joonhee squints at it a bit. it's probably not the strangest pokémon he's seen but it's hard to compare the levels of strange. like comparing a durian to a dragon fruit. ]

Have you been here a long time? [ he wonders if he'll manage the same level of nonchalance at some point

That's a relief. What exactly happened? [ he's getting the impression that unintentional posts are somewhat common. he'll have to look over this doohickey over later to make sure he doesn't accidentally turn it on. ]

We were using our Pokemon to headbutt the trees, trying to find some new Pokemon and.. as you can see, we technically did. They just all felt like blowing up.

...I didn't realise pokémon could blow up. [ that is a new thing to add to his list of concerns in this world. ]

To be honest, I didn't either. At least not as little tree bombs.

I guess it's a handy thing to know. [ he sure as hell won't be camping under trees now. ]

Then avoid Geodude and Graveler, as I remember those two are capable of learning that move as well; also, Voltorb. They look like pokeballs, except they're electric types and probably blow up like this does.

Oh, thank you for the advice. [ he has no idea what those look like but he can look it up later. it's good to know which ones are prone to blowing up. ]

I should really brush up on things like that, it's.. well there's obviously more Pokemon than the one hundred and fifty I do know.

[ 150 sounds like a lot but then compared to the species of animals that exists on earth...well his earth? it's really very little. ]

I only know about ten right now so it's already incredible that you know that many to me.

Hoohoo, it's only due to having played Pokemon Red when I was younger. It's a video game in my world that actually seems like it was based on this one, albeit only the Kanto region is featured.

Ah! It was a game where you came from too? I was wondering if anyone else knew the game. I never played it though but it was getting really popular.
